"Music has the power to hit (heal, inspire, and touch) lives—and that's what I strive to do with every note. It’s not about me; it’s about the heart that needs a melody to lift it up."

Lorian G.
Background

Born on the Caribbean island of Grenada, Lorian Guillaume discovered her love for music at a very young age. Her music journey began with piano lessons under the mentorship of Mr. Wade Marcelle. With him, her musical talents flourished, expanding to trumpet playing and original compositions. At just nine years old, Lorian showcased her natural gift by securing third place in Grenada’s National Festival of the Arts Vocal and Instrumental Composition category, making her one of the youngest winners in the competition’s history.

Performance Practice

Throughout her academic journey, Lorian continued to refine her musical skills. In high school, she distinguished herself as the principal snare player and drumline captain, frequently performing her own compositions at school assemblies. Her passion and dedication to music led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition, further developing her unique voice. During college, Lorian performed with her university’s professional choir as a 1st alto vocalist, played 1st alto saxophone in the Wind Symphony, and toured major U.S. cities, including Chicago and Indianapolis, as a drummer for the Gospel Collective Commune. Among her notable performances, Lorian opened for NBC’s The Sing-Off winners, Committed, and shared the stage with Juno Award-winning artist K-Anthony.

Professional Work

Lorian’s career as a musician is marked by live performances, studio projects and music education. She actively collaborates as a session composer and live instrumentalist across diverse music genres. Her passion for nurturing next generation musicians drives her work as a music educator, where she has directed and composed for brass bands and choirs, inspiring and mentoring young talents.

Community and Faith

Beyond her professional pursuits, Lorian is deeply committed to her faith and community service. She volunteers her time with the Salvation Army and participates in local worship teams, blending her musical gifts with her mission to share the love of Jesus.
